Vision

At St John’s everything we do is underpinned by our 3 Christian Values:

Love, Courage, Perserverance

At St John’s, Religious Education (RE) is a rigorous, text-based and enquiry-led subject that supports our children in exploring life’s big questions through the lens of faith and belief. We follow the RE Today Primary Curriculum, which is rooted in academic integrity and shaped by the principles of religious literacy. Our curriculum enables pupils to develop a deep understanding of Christianity and other world faiths, while also encouraging respectful dialogue and critical thinking.  It is faithful to the requirements of the agreed syllabus as we are part of Manchester Diocese.

Each unit is built around a key question and structured to promote investigation, reflection and discussion. Pupils engage with sacred texts, explore diverse beliefs and practices, and consider how religion influences individuals and communities. The curriculum is designed as a spiral model, revisiting key theological concepts such as Creation, Incarnation, Salvation, and Gospel across year groups, while also exploring Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Humanism.

RE at St John’s is inclusive, thought-provoking and relevant. It nurtures curiosity, empathy and spiritual development, helping children to make sense of their own beliefs and those of others in a diverse world.
