Vision

St John’s is a nurturing environment in which each child is encouraged to reach their full potential. As a school, we believe that children are all individuals and therefore, we aim to encourage mutual respect, responsibility, and foster self-esteem in a happy, safe and caring atmosphere.

The teaching of PHSE and RSE supports and upholds this vision focusing on the diverse beliefs, values and attitudes that individuals and societies hold. We help pupils to develop themselves, their understanding of the world, and their ability to communicate their feelings. PHSE helps children to acquire British values and attitudes which are necessary if they are to make sense of the experiences within school, the wider community and the wider world. We want children to value themselves, respect others, appreciate differences and diversity and feel confident and informed as a British citizen.

Our vision is for every child to feel enabled to reflect on and clarify their own values, attitudes and feelings by having the opportunity to explore a range of values and attitudes they encounter in their lives.

"myHappyMind has had a huge impact in our school both on the children's wellbeing and their behaviours for learning.  Understanding how their brain reacts in different situations has helped pupils to reflect on choices they make as well as promoting a calm and nurturing environment in the school.  It fits in well with our Christian ethos as it supports good decision making, responsibility and peace." Mrs Cook, Headteacher

We are proud to say that we are a myHappymind Bronze Accredited school!

This means that as a school we consider the mental health and wellbeing of our children as one of our top priorities. We have created a whole school culture that helps build our children's resilience, confidence and self esteem as well as teaching them how to self regulate in those stressful times.

This Accreditation badge has been awarded thanks to all the effort our staff, children, governors and parents have put in to bring the lessons of myHappymind to life all around our school!
