“Good buildings come from good people, and all problems are solved by good design.”
Design Technology is a practical subject which inspires and helps to prepare children for the developing world. The subject encourages children to become creative problem solvers, both as individuals and as part of a team. It draws knowledge upon science, engineering, maths computing and art. It inspires children to be innovative and creative thinkers who have the appreciation of the product design process through design, make and evaluate.
At St John’s we encourage children to take risks, through drafting design concepts (that solve real and relevant problems considering needs, wants and values) modelling, testing and to be reflective learners who evaluate their own and others’ work. Every child will have an awareness of the impact that Design and Technology has on our lives, and we encourage children to become resourceful, enterprising citizens who will have the skills to contribute to future design advancements and make an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and wellbeing of the nation.
