A place to love learn and grow

Geography Fieldwork Week May 2019

Nursery - What's in our town?

Nursery went out into the locality to explore their home town.

Year 5 supported the children by buddying up and sharing their knowledge.

They used spotter sheets to record using words and pictures the key features.

Plenty of new vocabulary was used. Children know about the market, supermarket, bakery, library and medical centre.

We saw the many bridges and the river Irwell which runs through our town.

In Year 2 we have had a great time celebrating Geography week. First we looked carefully at a map of our local area and planned a route which would allow us to find some natural objects🍀🌼🌸🌺🌾🌱. We then took our journey sticks and off we went to Outwood Nature Reserve. We found lots of interesting items and attached them to our sticks. Back at school we wrote a recount of our walk.
Year 3 teamed up with Year 4 to undertake our Geography fieldtrip. We were tasked with identifying the different physical (natural) and human (man-made) features within Outwood Park. We also took some time to sketch ridges, rivers, hills and woodland.
